Alberta Film & Television Award, Best Promotional Production, Stampede Things

Industry Award

These awards honour the best in production in the province of Alberta, celebrating excellence and outstanding achievement in the industry.

Meetings + Incentive Travel’s 2017 Readers’ Choice Awards, Best Venue in Western Canada

Meetings + Incentive Travel’s readers nominate their favourite venues and suppliers and then cast 1,893 votes to determine the winners of the magazine’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards.

Canadian Finals Rodeo – Top Saddle Bronc of the CFR and Nine Go-Round Buckles

45 Calgary Stampede bucking horses and bulls were selected by the cowboys of the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association to compete at the Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) in Edmonton, Alberta, November 8-12. For the second year in a row, Wild Cherry won top Saddle Bronc Horse of the CFR, while eight animals were recognized with a total of nine go-round buckles as the top horse or bull of a performance.

National Finals Rodeo (NFR)

Rodeo Award

14 horses and one bull were invited to represent the Calgary Stampede at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, December 7-16. Tiger Warrior was recognized at a special buckle presentation following night two of the rodeo for his top performance in Saddle Bronc.

Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) - Outstanding Rodeo Committee Partner

Rodeo Award

The WPRA awarded the Calgary Stampede a brand new award in 2017— Outstanding Rodeo Committee Partner. The Stampede was selected for elevating the sport of rodeo, specifically barrel racing, for its attention to safety of the contestants and equine athletes and for the overall partnership the Stampede has shown over the years with the WPRA.

Calgary Stampede Rodeo: Champion Saddle Bronc and Bareback Horses

These awards are voted on by the six pro rodeo officials and are given to the animals with the best overall performance during the Calgary Stampede. Tiger Warrior won the Saddle Bronc championship bronze for the second year running, while Shadow Warrior took top honours in the Bareback.

Ponoka Stampede: Top Saddle Bronc Horse

On July 3, 2017, Tiger Warrior was selected as the top Saddle Bronc Horse of the Ponoka Stampede and awarded a special trophy halter which is now on display in the Calgary Stampede Rodeo Office.

Tiger Warrior was selected as the top Bareback Horse of the Pendleton Round-Up on Sunday, September 16, 2017.

Tourism Awards

The White Hat Awards recognize the amazing ambassadors of Calgary. These are the people who go above and beyond to make their guests’ experiences a memorable one. This year, the Calgary Stampede was proud to have 68 nominees. Among those, we had three winners:
