The Calgary Exhibition & Stampede Ltd. is a not-for-profit, community organization supported by one of the largest volunteer programs in Canada. Through the efforts of our volunteer and employee team, we reinvest all the revenue we generate back into our facilities and our many youth development and agriculture programs for the benefit of the entire community.
With the support of many funding partners - Government, corporate and individual - we will preserve and promote western heritage and values, with a goal of building Stampede Park into a world-class, year-round gathering place for Calgarians and their guests.
The City of Calgary
The City of Calgary has been a long-time partner of the Calgary Stampede, recently providing our 193 acre lease, approving the Stampede's land use application for development and approving a by-law to increase and partially guarantee the Stampede's borrowing capacity.
Government of Alberta
The Government of Alberta, through the Alberta Lottery Fund, provides funding support for the Stampede's facilities and programs. We receive an annual $10-million operating grant and $250,000 per year for 10 years that provide funds to enhance the Calgary Stampede festival. In 2005, we received a one-time Centennial grant of $35 million in support of the Roundup Centre expansion. This support enables us to fulfill our core purpose through ongoing programs and facility enhancements that benefit our local community and visitors from around the world.
In 2006, Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development provided an annual operating grant of $100,000 to our agriculture activities. The Agriculture initiatives Program contributed $40,000 for the Royal Agriculture Society of the Commonwealth conference and $9,000 for our International Agriculture program. Alberta Economic Development supported the new Rural Routes program with a grant of $5,000.
Government of Canada
In 2006, the Government of Canada, through the Canadian Agriculture and Food International program, provided $100,000 to support the Royal Agriculture Society of the Commonwealth conference and $20,000 for the International Agriculture Program.
