b'Calgary Stampede292022 Report to the CommunityOpen Farm Days at OH Ranch Opening the doors of the historic OH Ranch for Open Farm Days.The Calgary Stampedes OH Ranch was on display in August during Alberta Open Farm Days, an initiative that provides hands-on experiences to teach Albertans about agricultureright from their rural neighbours! This two-day event showcased OH Ranch and the inner workings of a cattle operation, safe livestock practices, and the preservation of native grasslands and the impact it has on Albertans daily lives.Around 150 guests from southern Alberta, including many of the Calgary Stampedes volunteers and employees, visited Ken and Deb Pigeon, who have been operating OH Ranch since 2013. This was the 10th anniversary of the event and saw 115 farms and businesses participate.Stampede Brings Big Bucks & Big Action to CFR & NFRThe 2022 rodeo season wrapped in November and December with the pomp and circumstance of North Americas premiere rodeo eventsthe Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) and National Finals Rodeo (NFR)and Calgary Stampede bucking stock showed up, ready to buck.Only the best bucking stock make it to these two high-profile rodeos, selected and recognized by the contestants for their world-class performances throughout the year, and ability to give the top cowboysat these events a high-scoring ride.The Calgary Stampede sent 27 horses and four bulls to CFR, which took place in Red Deer, Alberta, November 2-6, and they came home with some serious hardware! Tokyo Bubbles carried Zeke Thurston to a huge 91.75 point ride to win a buckle in round three of the Saddle Bronc Riding. Another Calgary Stampede horse, Redon Acres, captured round five in partnership with Thurston. In Bareback, Bigtimin Houston matched up with Orin Larson for the win in round four and Xplosive Skies lit up round six for a buckle with Ty Taypotat on board. Tyler Kraft, Manager of the Calgary Stampede Ranch and Stock Contracting Operations was also selected by his peers as Pick Up Man for the prestigious event.The Calgary Stampedes horses were also showcased once again December 1-10 in Las Vegas, Nevada at NFR, where 13 of our equine athletes were selected to compete.
