About the Installation

This piece shows the bull and rider, the height and buck of his twist, rider leaning back with hand in the air, yet intensely focused on the bull and the horns beneath him – a short lived event that resembles gambling. The mental control and concentration of the bull rider is not dissimilar to that of a gambler.

Did You Know

  • Bullriding is considered the most dangerous event in rodeo

  • A bull rider is disqualified for touching the bull with his free hand or bucking off before the end of the eight-second ride

  • The rider’s score is based on his skill as well as the bull’s performance
