Calgary Stampede Showriders
The Calgary Stampede Showriders are a dynamic group of young equestrians with a distinctive western flair.
The Calgary Stampede Showriders was created in 1985 to accompany the Calgary Stampede Showband in parades and rodeos across Southern Alberta. As the group matured, they developed their own identity and broadened the scope of their activities.
In 2011, the Showriders travelled to the Portland Grand Floral Parade winning Best Overall Drill Team award. Later that year, the team had the privilege to be the personal mounted honour guard for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on their Canadian Tour. In January 2012 and 2019, the team rode the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, a truly unique experience. In 2013, 2016, and 2018 the team travelled to the "Daddy of 'em All" Cheyenne Frontier Days where they brought home the prestigious award of Outstanding Mounted Riding Group each visit.
Today the equestrian team performs across Southern Alberta and has traveled to destinations in the United States and Europe. The Showriders perform musical rides several times a day and serve as a colour guard during the Calgary Stampede.
