The Rodeo Committee is committed to providing inspiring experiences for urban and rural audiences through showcasing the western way of life by facilitating the production of world-class rodeo events, delivered with the highest standards of safety and animal care. The Committee works as stewards of the sport of rodeo in a manner to elevate, advance, maintain, and sustain the sport of rodeo and does so as a pillar of the Rodeo Industry locally and worldwide.
Specific Activities
- 10-Day Rodeo: Work in collaboration with employees, volunteers, and industry partners to facilitate the production and delivery of the world-class Calgary Stampede Rodeo. Welcome and assist rodeo contestants and their livestock upon arrival and throughout their stay.
- Promotion & Education: Participate in promotion and education activities in support of Calgary Stampede’s commitment to elevating the sport of rodeo through in person events and experiences, public engagement and community involvement throughout the year.
- Industry Relations: Maintain and foster positive and productive relationships with valued partners within the rodeo and western sport community in coordination with and in support of organizational goals and objectives.
- Year-Round Operations and Events: Participate in long-term planning and year-round engagement with the rodeo community in Western Events and Community outreach to support the goals of CS and its meaningful role in the sport of rodeo.
- Hosting: Deliver western hospitality to competitors and their families, sponsors, and special guests- creating a genuine and memorable experience that honors the spirit of rodeo and celebrates the Calgary Stampede.
- 4H Rodeo and Youth: Support youth involvement in the sport of rodeo through participation and education, with an eye to the health of the sport in the future through 4-H Rodeo and other youth rodeo initiatives.
- Heritage: Preserve, celebrate and showcase our western heritage and traditions of human and animal athletes through recognition in the Calgary Stampede Hall of Fame and Guy Weadick Award.
- Volunteer Recruitment: Recruit and retain volunteers with the essential skills required for the successful execution of rodeo production, hosting and tours.
